Green Dot Active Bystander Training!

Price: Free

Through this training, participants will learn to identify signs of power-based personal violence, which includes: Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Bullying (including Cyber-) Stalking (including Cyber-) Child Abuse Elder Abuse Participants will also learn safe and realistic ways for you to make it less likely to continue. This is a closed training for a specific group in Lee County. Email chris.hall@carefl.org for future training opportunities.

Advocacy Core Training

Ever considered volunteering with C.A.R.E. to provide support to survivors of domestic violence? The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence Advocacy Core Training is a 3-day required course that teaches you everything you need to know! The course is provided by C.A.R.E., free of charge, August 28, 29, 30: 9am-5pm (MUST ATTEND ALL 3 SESSIONS). Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Lucy, for more details. (941) 639-5499. Technology Safety

This presentation will explore the intersection between technology and domestic violence and help participants gain an understanding of how technology can be misused to stalk, monitor, and harass survivors of domestic violence.  Topics will include privacy on the internet, social media, surveillance, cell phone risks, and methods for safe use of technology. Roger Eaton, Clerk of Circuit Court and County Comptroller, is sponsoring a car wash to benefit the Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies! The event will be hosted at Charlotte State Bank in Punta Gorda, and the suggested donation is just $6! All proceeds go directly to C.A.R.E.

As you drive around Charlotte County, you may notice several churches with purple pinwheels on display. These pinwheels represent the need to raise awareness and work toward putting an end to domestic violence. In Her Shoes (Simulation Workshop)

Ever wonder what exactly a woman experiences when she flees an abusive relationship? This simulation takes you through a variety of challenges a survivor faces during her journey: housing, children, church, courthouse, medical, employment, returning home, friends and family… the list goes on.   We encourage everyone (men AND women) to come and share this powerful experience. Lunch is provided.
