Make a donation at our ReUse Store

Donations of household goods, gently used clothing, toys, books, tools, craft items, and furniture are received at C.A.R.E. ReUse Stores in Port Charlotte and Englewood. Items are provided free through C.A.R.E. to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Sales at the ReUse Stores help fund the services and mission of C.A.R.E.

Double the impact of your donation through the Flanzer Trust

The Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies Inc. of Charlotte County has been approved to receive matching funds for donations by the Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust in Sarasota.

The mission of the trust is to enhance the lives of people in Sarasota, Desoto, Manatee, and Charlotte counties by supporting social service and welfare program, education, and health services agencies helping improve lives for people in need.

The Flanzer Trust will MATCH individual donations of $5 to $500 dollars a month, to a maximum of $3000 per year per donor.

Yes, you read that correctly! Double the impact of your donation with this generous one-to-one dollar match to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Contribution from individuals, their donor advised funds or their personal foundations are eligible. No goods or services can be given in exchange for a donation. Donations are reviewed for eligibility.

To check out the Flanzer Trust history or to submit a donation from the Flanzer Trust website, go to flanzertrust.org and click on the blue bar Make a Donation.

Look for Choose Your Charity and search for Center for Abuse & Rape Emergencies – Charlotte and then click on the agency name. You will be directed to the specific page to select the blue Donate Now button. Or you may use the button shown here to go directly to the site.

Enter the dollar amount you wish to give; you may opt for a monthly donation by checking that box. You will need to confirm the agency name by manually entering it. Any special directions you wish to include can be entered on this page to be forwarded to the charity or note gifts in honor/memory here.

Once complete, hit the Continue button to proceed. Enter your name which should match the name on the card/account being used for payment and your email address. If not using a PayPal account to donate, skip to enter the card number and complete remaining information.

If you do not wish to donate online you may mail a check payable to the Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, 1266 First Street, Suite 1, Sarasota, FL 34236. Please be sure to note in the memo line on the check the name of our agency.

Donate your time

At C.A.R.E. we’re always looking for others in our community who share our goal to end violence. Volunteers are an essential part of C.A.R.E., assisting victims of crimes, preventing crime by promoting safe relationships, and in fundraising endeavors.

C.A.R.E. provides specialized initial and ongoing training for volunteers who answer the Crisis Hotline working directly with victims, in shelter, hospital, or justice-centered settings.

Join our Auxiliary Society

The C.A.R.E. Auxiliary Society is a social, educational, and philanthropic group dedicated to furthering the mission of The Center for Abuse & Rape Emergencies, Inc. and caring for all victims of violent crimes.

Brick Paver Program

Help us ‘pave’ the way to prepare survivors for independence and personal success. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help provide free childcare to survivors with children aged 1 to 4 so they’re able to go to work or attend training classes to build career skills. Our Child Care Program will provide a support system for parents and children during a very stressful time in their lives.

Cell Phone Program

C.A.R.E. accepts donations of used cell phones. Phones can be used by our clients to access emergency services by calling 9-1-1 should they require assistance.

Older phones and chargers are sent to a recycle center for processing. Funds are sent back to C.A.R.E. and deposited as unrestricted donations. Call (941) 639-5499 to donate your phones, or to request a C.A.R.E. donation box that can be set up at your business location. Contact us to pick up the phones when the boxes are full.
