Volunteer Opportunities

At C.A.R.E., we are always looking for others in our community who share our goal to end violence.  Volunteers are an essential part of C.A.R.E., assisting victims of crimes, preventing crime by promoting safe relationships, and in fund-raising endeavors.

C.A.R.E. provides specialized initial and ongoing training for volunteers who answer the Crisis Hotline and work directly with victims, in shelter, hospital or justice-centered settings. The initial training includes a 3-day, in-person workshop followed by an extensive online course. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator for training dates, which are usually offered monthly. (941) 639-5499.

Volunteer opportunities that provide indirect service yet do not involve as much training include pet “foster care”, working in the ReUse Stores in Port Charlotte and Englewood (sorting and displaying items for sale, helping customers), assisting at community events, and more. Call 941-639-5499 for more information or email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@carefl.org.
